C-Pillar (Wagon/Combi) Help Needed

Featured Replies

Hi all,

seems like when they have done the panel repair at the panel beater, they took of the C-Pillar but haven't properly either took it out, or put it back in but I'm worried it's damaged beyond repair, however, I'd like to take it out and inspect it.

Part: C-Pillar Left (in the dir of driving).

Status: Top part is wiggly, left part, that should be snugly fit to the window is loose and can put the finger in, the right part from the door rubber seal side is tight at the bottom, loose on the top.

Question: how to I safely take it out. I need someone to explain in few more steps other than the manual that I've found. Much appreciated. Also if anyone has a photo / part number that I will need would come in handy.

Thanks all.

Ok, got it out. for anyone interested in the feature.

Model: Superb my17 wagon 206 full spec

Removal of: C-Pillar trim (combi) - LEFT

Advice: RTFM - read the fk manual.

in the manual it says: remove the top trim of the luggage compartment trim. Usually when there is a requirement of the removal of other part, the manual provides the link, however I've missed that.

So if anyone needs to get the c-pillar removed in combi/wagon, the proc is as follows:

 - remove the side bottom air bag trim. the manual says remove the seat and so on, not really required as I wanted to avoid having to buy new seat grommets. you can only detach the top bit from the housing. DO NOT PULL IT SIDEWAYS, it's not a clip-based mechanism.Fold the seat down. while sitting in the luggage compartment, grab the leather/cloth trim of the airbag trim and LIFT IT UP AND THEN INWARDS.

- remove the top trim of the luggage compartment, yes, has to be done as this trim is attached to C-Pillar trim at 2 points. Remove all the screws and while sitting in the lugg.compartment, start from the rubber door seal, gently pull inwards, the first clip will pop, and continue from there. Move the trim from first step a bit inward and popup the clips from the c-pillar trim.

- now it gets bit tricky, not if you decided to remove the whole trim, but I left it there. Grab the c-pillar trim from sides, be careful on the left side, it does have little plastic hooks. and popout the single clip that sits to the bottom of the trim. once popped, you need to push out both bits from step 1) and 2) and lift the c-p trim slightly up, inwards, and then down.

Of course, the panel beating shop was rushing putitng the panel back in so they broke the plastic bits so now I'm chasing the spare part ;/
