Brand-new car won't start

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Bought a Fabia estate DSG 2 weeks ago.

400 miles on the clock.

Has kessy.

Press once to turn on ignition. That works.

Press again to start. Nope. Brake pedal hard as a rock.

Am sitting in the car waiting for skoda assistance to sort it out. How they will move the car whilst stuck in park is a good one.

Any suggestions?

It's been a week since i last drove it i think.

Very disappointing.

The Responder should know how to get it out of P and if not it is in the owners manual telling them how to.

They will start the car in Park though and then take it out.

If the car does not start the front  wheels need taken on a dolly anyway if the car is being towed even if in N.

Thanks for getting in touch.  Racking my brains. Wonder if it is starter motor. All lights work. Battery is ok. Why the brake pedal solid? Hmm. That worries me.

First, don't be concerned about the rock hard brake pedal: that is normal until the engine starts.

Are all the lights going through the check phase and going off except the engine and brake lights? Anything else happen on the display?

According to the handbook for 2021 Fabia (3):

Starting the vehicle with automatic transmission

  • Secure the vehicle with the parking brake.

  • Keep the brake pedal depressed.

  • Move the selector lever to position media?lang=en_GB&key=img956d7688fe849dd10adf42c72906b227_2_--_--_vw_Symbol_SVG_online_1x.svg or media?lang=en_GB&key=img30d5f1c4fe849ab50adf42c778154a9c_1_--_--_vw_Symbol_SVG_online_1x.svg.

  • Press the starter button.
