VRS rear brake problem

Featured Replies

Hi

I've had new discs, pads and refurbished green calipers fitted to the rear of my octavia. But the brake pedal feels terrible and doesn't really bit until about halfway down.

The system has been bled and pressure tested. What could be wrong does the octavia have a rear brake compensator valve which maybe defective after the system was opened up. Cheers

Why would it? It has 4 channel ABS. Speaking of, has it been VCDS bled to bleed the ABS block?

I'm not sure which is why I ask. But doing some more research I might ask for it to be pressure bled across all 4 calipers see if that works. Fingers crossed 🤞

OK so it would seem the brakes have been bled many times already and with a pressure bleeder.

But the peddle is still rubbish only really working from around halfway down. Anyone got any ideas?

Which potentially pushes air into the ABS block. Hence the question in post #2 above.

Try bleeding the master cylinder.

The engine was running while bleeding the system. Would this not have the same effect?

Engine running makes no difference to basic bleeding of the brakes just alters the pedal pressure if doing it the old 2 man way, if a pressure bleeder was used makes no odds  as @KenONeill said needs VCDS to put the ABS into service mode to get any air trapped inside out

Who did the work...?

Why were the calipers replaced?

How was it bled?
