vRS won't start this morning

Featured Replies

I seem to have a completly dead battery. Last time I used the car was on Thursday when I also had my active sub fitted in the boot. I spoke to the guy who fitted it this morning and he assured me apart from a faulty amp there isnt really much room for error as it is a simple install. I suppose it's also possible I left something on but all the doors were shut and with nothing in the ciggy lighter socket. :(

The guy who did my install certainly looked like he knew what he was doing, the way he pulled the car apart and fitted the cables etc he was certainly no bodger and has been in the business for 20 years.

I've had to call the AA out to see if we can bring it back to life as I really need the car to get to work Sunday and Monday night. Fingers crossed. :o

Check the amp isnt permently on.

Yes it seems to be but I can't see the connection labels due to the thick cables in the way, just come up for a cup of tea and a look at the vibe site to see if I can see anything. I've flicked the power surge button for now so it's off but that involves lifting the bonnet everytime. :)

Is the perm on switchable do you know or is it cables on wrong connections.

there should be a cable which links the amp into the head unit and this is the switch. I think if this isn't connected, the amp remains on unless you physically cut the power.

Oops, they've connected the signal cable to a perm live, not the switch live.

Thats what has flattened your battery (from expereince :o )

All fixed, apparently there is a live feed to the HU that is present on VW group cars that needs to be removed to stop power going in when the engine is off. I'm not very technical but once he had sorted this out everything is now as it should be and the amp comes on when the stereo is switched on. :)

I'll post some comments about my new active sub in the ice section when I get time but i'm very impressed so far and a little deaf.
