SKODA WLAN

Featured Replies

I noticed on my phone today while in the car that there is a SKODA WLAN I can connect to (requires a password which I don't know).

I don't actually need this as I use my phone's hotspot but I'm curious as I was told the car didn't have WIFI anyway but I just wanted to understand... Does this mean that my car DOES have some kind of built in WIFI that can be connected to? (assuming I had the password)

Or does it only work if I buy/pay for a monthly SIM that I keep in the car?

WLAN provides data, if you have SIM card installed into card module in glovebox. Assuming it`s a Columbus unit.

If no SIM card, it`s just wifi without network connection.

Also you have to activate business phone interface in Telephone main menu in car besides installing the sim card.

Password can be viewed / changed in menu - wlan - hotspot.

Thank you. Yes it's Columbus with 9'2 screen. So if I manage to change the password I can use the WLAN instead of my phone data? (as I said it's no biggie really as my phone has pretty much unlimited data anyway)

If you have put a SIM card in the slot in the unit in the glovebox - yes. But that means paying for an extra data plan, so why would you?

Yes cou could join the incar wlan, but it`s worthless unless you install SIM with data plan into SIM module.

I have SIM installed, but I use hotspot only when I am driving with some non EU guests to keep their data expenses under control.
