Carplay option for Columbus MIB1 - cheap alternative?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Has anyone had any experience with one of the interface modules you can buy rather than switching to an MIB2/2.5 unit?

I'm looking to add Carplay to my '64 Octavia which has the Columbus MIB1 with Canton and these look like a simple, cost-effective solution. I've had a look around and couldn't see much mention of them on here.

Having watched some videos for a Golf, it seems you simply pull out the glove box unit, plug this in, fiddle with some buttons and hey presto, Carplay for a couple of hundred quid and no coding.

I've got some keys on the way to pull the glovebox unit out and look at the back. I heard that the Canton amp is there and makes fitting the box in tricky.

If anyone has had any experience or advice, it would be great to know :) Thanks
