Stupid Question re: FMIC/ SMIC

Featured Replies

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there any cost-effective benefit to putting in a second SMIC plumbed in "in-series" to the original unit? Or an second OEM SMIC maybe mounted in front(shorter hosing)?

Has anyone heard of this being done effectively?

I don't know the cost of a new OEM unit plus all the necessary hoses but surely it's less than the Forge FMIC (which is admittedly super- ).

Fabia-Gurus (you all know who you are:D ) please do share your deep wisdom with us:D ............

By the time you have got the second SMIC and got someone to fabricate the required hoses I'd bet you aint far off the Forge price. Plus you then have something that has not been tested and designed for your vehicle.

Its not a silly idea by no means, it has been done on here. Someone was running a twin SMIC set up.

Thanks - any idea who? - fabrication out here is cheap and a second SMIC can be ordered through the local dealer.

Probably an IC autospray setup would be a cheaper than a full Forge FMIC and as long as you have a supply of 50:50 alcohol/water it would be pretty effective.

Gonna think some more................ (It was 41 deg C today here)

Cheers,

Bas
