Apple CarPlay

Featured Replies

Hi

I’ve got a 2012 Octavia SE Connect. A few years back I replaced the original Bolero unit with a VW RCD510 unit. I fitted a windscreen mounted dab aerial at the same time.

Nowadays I stream almost all

my music from Spotify on my phone so I’m wondering if anyone is aware of a plug and play option for the Mk2 that offers Apple CarPlay?

Ideally I’d want DAB and the rear parking sensors to continue working. I’m not bothered about playing CDs.

RCD330 like I've just fitted in my pre-FL Octy.  Plug and play provided you check which CANBUS unit your car has first to prevent battery drain issues (shouldn't be a problem on a facelift car.

They don't have DAB but I think your rear sensors would still work, you'll have to check.  It will definitely work with reversing cameras though which can be found cheap enough.

Hi. I plumped for a Pioneer head unit in the end.

The RCD330 looks good but the DAB is important to me which is why I didn’t go for that one.

What I did find is that the tone from the parking sensors doesn’t come from the head unit at all. I still get the beeps and was getting them even when there was no head unit in the car. I don’t get the visual display when reversing any more bit it’s no big deal.

I’ve fitted a RCD330 with an external DAB adaptor connected into the aux in port. Works great and have the park pilot screen (can do camera if fitted).

Also got a wireless CarPlay adaptor so completely wire free.

Just saw this. It was a SPH DA230DAB and it was fine with my iPhone SE 2020. It is not working well with my iPhone 12 though so not sure I'd recommend.
