which unleaded ?

Featured Replies

i went to a new tesco's near my house and used their petrol station for the 1st time. i pulled up at the pump it said 'unleaded' the other said 'Super unleaded.

i used unleaded but was is super unleaded.

thanks

ps as i was driving off i noticed that the super unleaded was more expensive.

1.4 16v x reg

Super unleaded at tesco is a 97 RON petrol whereas normal unleaded is 95RON I think.

Super Unleaded ( octane 98 ) will give ur car slightly a better performance and better fuel economy as well because ur Fabia is a 1.4 16V.. it wouldnt make a difference on other fabia engines like the 1.2, 1.4 8V n 2.0.. but 1.4 16V is alot better when u use Super Unleaded in terms of Performance and fuel economy

Depending on your Tesco their Super is either 97Ron or 99Ron. ;)

You'll be just fine with normal unleaded, but you can use super if you want to however, I don't think you'll notice any difference in either performance or economy.

thanks for the help.

The only benefit I ever noticed from running super unleaded was it helped prevent a known issue on my Ford Puma, when the air con is on the car stutters somewhat, super unleaded- no stuttering!

I ran a Mini Cooper S entirely on Super Unleaded and the fuel economy was terrible, if it's supposed to increase your MPG I dread to think what unleaded would have been like!

No problem mate, they make good puddings up there.

I noticed a performance increase and MPG increase in my 1.2 16v clio. the mpg increase actually paid itself off against the increased price but then I drove faster because of the better acceleration!

maybe it's just mind games? who knows but definitly a difference

here you get 91, 95, gazole or leaded as an option

ohhhh yes leaded petrol is alive and well and not where you are

Are you in France?

Super unleaded should give u a slight difference in Performance and economy IF ur car is either super/turbocharged or if ur engines can takes this kind of fuel because most of the engines run on Normal Unleaded (95) but as for the 1.4 16V Super Unleaded is the better option even though its a bit more expensive

Does it mention running on super unleaded in the handbook? I know some cars (typically performance cars) specify which grade of fuel the manufacturer recommends running with :D

Question mate; what do you base your assumptions on?

Check the handbook or manual of the Fabia, and u'll notice that with the 1.4 16V engine it says Octane 98 Petro and a note saying that if u use less than Octane 98 u'll get Slightly Less Performance n fuel economy.. the other thing is that i've tried both types of fuel on my 1.4 16V and Super Unleaded is alot better

If the engine is designed to run on a higher octane fuel, it's generally worth running on it as the fuel economy and performance will be much better.

Old Pug 205 was so cr*p on unleaded that it nearly stalled most of the time, SUL and it was fine. Admittedly we were talking old banger here :D
