AMUNDSEN MIB 2 map update. I need assurance on the procedure please.

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2018 Karoq with 2018 maps loaded on SD card. I have downloaded the latest maps and unzipped.

What I am worried about is the instructions to only use the original Skoda SD card it has a security chip on it! ? Instructions state to format it to FAT32 but I am worried that I am going to lose everything!

I've tried backing up the card, but Windows 10 will not back some .NDS files e.g. routing.nds 604MB.

Quote from manual: "Option: NAV -> settings (in NAV) -> Information about version -> actualization (SD/USB) -> proceed as the navigation system requires Option: Settings (general) -> information about the system -> actualization of SW -> proceed as the navigation system requires -> after the process the infotainment will restart -> maps are ready for use"

I've spent sometime on this forum looking forum to no avail.

Can someone please say that the above will work OK ?

Thanks

Have you tried just copying the files off the D card, this always worked for me?

The knowing that I had a backup copy I quick formatted the SD card and copied the unzipped downloaded files onto the SD card - worked every time for me.

There is no security chip...

It's just the CID (Card ID, sort of like a serial number) that needs to be present on the allowed list. You can't wipe the CID during a format and generally speaking, it's impossible to change the CID :D

Formatting is absolutely fine as per this guide:
