A gearbox problem solved by a reboot of the infotainment unit - does this reset the MIB unit?

Featured Replies

This morning I was about to back the car out of the garage, but when I pressed the start button, an error message came up. I can't remember the exact wording, but it related to a gearbox fault and failure of the parking brake. When I tried to engage reverse, it went back to neutral. So as with other faults, I rebooted the head unit, then it all worked. Later, when I went for a drive, the image indicating 'emission control system fault' was on. Another reboot cleared it. So my question is this: when the head unit (infotainment centre is rebooted, does this reset the control unit (MIB)?
