Turbo overboost?

Featured Replies

Hi all, recent issue seems to be turbo related.

I've a 2.0 bmm engine that seems very eager to make swift progress.

As soon as I touch the go pedal it wants to be off.

Now this isn't normal, so wanting pointers as what to look at first.

Heard vanes sticking can cause issues?

Anything else to consider?

No dash lights on, but there is a 'warm oil' smell when I switch off, yet no signs of burning/leaking oil.

Many thanks 👍

How many miles on it and is it using oil?   Having driven one, they are pleasantly torquey at the bottom end.  More so than the 16 valve versions.  I take it this is something which has only started happening recently?

Hi, it's currently on 165,000 and so far hasn't used any oil.

This has happened once or twice a month before, but now seems more frequent.

Hoping to find the source before it becomes a bigger issue.
