No Headlight/tail-lights NS only

Featured Replies

Hi

Having a problem (well, a few but this is the main one)

The nearside tail/fog/side/dipped/main lights are totally dead. Indicators/Hazard lights work fine on both sides. Took light switch out, no corrosion present, so looking for a few pointers.
alarm and cruise not working either but that’s not really important..

Ive noticed a lot of multi plugs on n/s/f kick panel, is this where I should be looking? Been through the loom under seats front and rear and re-done any connection that wasn’t looking great.

Thanks!

Check the fuse panel. My old A6 had 'sided' fuses for headlamps and rearlamps...

What I thought too.

But that's a sign you are probably having earth issues. A dodgy earth can do strange things - you can sometimes get smaller bulbs to sort of illuminate as they find a sort of a route to earth through larger filament bulbs depending on the wiring layout/ relay positions etc.

Also @Wilbur27 He said it. I once replaced a brake light on a Hillman Avenger, and tested the new one without replacing the cluster. The effect was to remove the earth point, and make the brake light and relevant rear indicator flash alternately.

Had the carpets up ( front and rear… good god……

am I right in thinking the solid red wires should only be connected to each other, and not any of the brown/red ( I think CANBUS ?).

going to check earth points at a post and floor, as well as multi plugs on a panel.
I think there’s been at least 3 attempts on this harness judging by skill level/insulation tape colours
