Emergency Assist

Featured Replies

Hi, when a skoda karoq is involved in an accident what is the defined period before skoda emergency assist activates?

Hi, it's the emergency assist system as I know it, but suppose it could be SOS? I have read the manual but it isn't refers to a 'defined ' period. My purpose for asking on here was to confirm what the defined period was?

Welcome.

It does not need to be involved in an accident does it?    Is that a SOS system you mean?

Hopefully someone has read the Owners Manual on what is what and how long etc.

Without being rude, if you'd read the link you posted, you'd see that it doesn't actually define how long the period is.  I don't know the answer, but it's perfectly reasonable to ask the question in the hope that someone might be able to answer from practical experience.

I know.   Someone that knows might well answer.

Without being rude the link i posted was saying what Emergency Assist does.

There was no mention of how long it is with no steering movement and it thinks the driver is incapacitated.

Lets hope it is damn quick so that the driver can react if they are capable of doing so.

DSG's only.

Hi. I'm quite sure nobody but the engineers who designed the system will be able to answer your question with any accuracy.

Apologies for answering a question with a question but...  If emergency assist didn't activate as soon as it detected an accident ( defined as the airbags being deployed ), then what would be the point of having emergency assist?

It's an unusal question - why do you ask?   Right at this moment I have a picture in my mind of someone about to tamper with the electrics in your car and you're scared that if the airbags are set off, you'll have an ambulance and fire engine on your doorstep before you can say  " Oh 5hit ! "  :D

This doesn't relate to a Skoda, but there is a dashcam video showing a similar system in operation following a collision with a coach.  It was posted by Ashley Neal, a Liverpool based driving instructor.  You can find it by searching for "Ashley's Analysis Didn't See That Coming" on YouTube.  The system recognises the accident has occurred almost immediately and when there is no response from the driver it makes an automated emergency call after around 90 seconds.
