I have seen people gain 2hp and 5nm

with this part also opening the blanked off holes on the "scoop" in petrol just wondering is there any benefits for diesel?

Intake not the scoop 😂

@bmask90  were you actually there when the cars were on the dyno before and after this mod and saw the 2hp / 5nM improvement with your own eyes?

For such a small amount of money why are you not just getting one for your car and then you will know when you dyno your car?

Can't do any harm and if it's something you want to do, I often find just doing it is best. I took my intake 'tray' out and dremeled out the holes on the drivers side, it's not perfect and some worry about water infiltration so some only do the top half to give some protection. I also added the blanking panel, although most places you buy it from wont supply it with screws. I did mine so soon after buying my car that I couldn't tell if it made a difference but its well documented through Golf MK7 GTi and R forums to improve things. Removing the snowgrate also helps things.

Check out this website, he's done alot of testing.

^^^ Noting that is a GTI & not a GTD.

Won't make a huge difference either way, at least none that a driver will feel. Yes a diesel will react differently but its never going to make it worse. Anything to help an engine breathe easier will have a positive effect to a point, even if its a small amount.

If life was so simple with improving Turbo Diesels performance.

But no problem in doing just that.

Meh, it wont hurt will it. If OP wants to go for it, go for it. I doubt anyone would feel any difference with a mod like this. Like a panel filter, you'll never feel any of the benefits but tons do it anyway.

Given that as you move forward fresh air is forced through the front of the intake the chance of sucking any hot engine air into the intake is remote - however if you run the motor on a dyno without adequate cold air coming into the engine then you might just see a small increase in power.

The way a diesel runs is with excess air. Then controlled via the amount of fuel added. It's a contributing factor into why they are more efficient as they actually burn all the fuel that is put through them.

A modern petrol is controlled by both air and fuel. Adding more air will make the system see more via the MAF sensor and then add more fuel. Hence more power.

For these reasons the intake mods that make more power on a petrol will not have anywhere near the same affect on a diesel.

Keeps the engine bay cleaner. That’s the only thing I noticed
