Lowered Suspension

Featured Replies

is there anybody who has fitted lowered suspension to thier 2.0 fabia. i've had a quick look underneath and the plastic cover under the engine looks very close to the ground even with standard suspension, my question is does anybody suffer from ground clearance problems or is lowering the suspension not recommended?

Go on, lower it - just not by much. There are quite a few lowered Fabias on here albeit RSes, don't se that a 2.0 would be any lower.

The Eibach springs lower the 2.0l 35-40mm and are the same as those for the 1.9 PD engine (I believe). I had no problems with ground clearance on my Fabia PD :D

Mine is a lowered RS Tom.

There isn't a whole lot of ground clearance under there, fortunately I have the Aluminium Undertray.

do the fabias bottom out alot going over bumps etc when they are lowered then??

I have a 2.0 which i lowered 40mm with H&R. It seems the tray underneath is pretty low in stock form compared to the vRS, mines so close to touching the ground, it's only about 1.5 inch off the ground. Fortunately over speed bumps, the tyres hit them first before the tray can even get near it.

They are pretty low. It all depends on the size/depth of the ramp/pothole.

The only real potential problems are when you go over something which the tyres don't lift the car up for (eg those silly small speed cushions). Saying that, I never managed to do any damage to mine which was lowered 35-40mm :D

(those silly small speed cushions).

Obviously not the ones around here then Chris!!

They are like mountains and there is nothing cushion like when you try to get over them  :P

Been on to the council but to no avail, I have to drive through the middle and play chicken with other motorists.

Kennington has some exciting speed bumps that I had to take VERY slowly yesterday. Some you could just drive over, others appear to be twice as high (same stretch of road, at first glance they kinda look the same).

Did the job of slowing me down though :D (esp. with SWMBO having a whine ;))

Obviously not the ones around here then Chris!!

 Small as in width, not height ;)

thanks for the comments guys, i've got a feeling that the undertray on the 2.0 car is lower than the vrs, i think i'm going to go for it though.

anyone recommend any particular make of dampers/springs

Eibach are the common choice but there are other combinations such as Koni shocks and Eibach springs.

Or just get H&Rs
