Well that sorted the wing mirror problem

Featured Replies

So I have now had my drivers mirror smashed by another car. It hit the mirror casing around the clear light source on the cover and destroyed the actual glass. The electronics still operate but I need to replace the clear plastic longitudinal light lens and the glass. Is this possible or am I in for a complete unit?

Thank you

The 'clear plastic longitudinal light lens' is an indicator, simply needs a new one of those and it comes as a complete indicator, not just a lens.

Regarding the glass - I very much hope you got the other drivers details - A self dimming mirror glass which most are, will set you back over £300. There are a few variants also relating to blind spot assist, dimming, heated.

Take a look on ebay.

My father found a mirror (only the glass part) in Estonia or Latvia  (heated + self-dimming w/o blind spot) for something like £85, while the best he found on any french spare parts website was at least 200€ for his Octy 3. OEM spare part in both cases 😉

There’s a sad trend recently of mirror glasses being stolen, sadly no better way of securing them.

as the cost of them goes up they are an easy target and lots of people are having theirs stolen or they attempt to and just smash the glass and run.

Thanks for the info. I only just found a use for the blind spot feature as I was in UK on motorways. Also found the front assist with cruise control which prevents undertaking as well as getting too close the vehicles in front. Not something we need in rural Ireland. So I am looking for simple heated glass replacement with the plastic backing plate and repeater unit.

Do we know which of these are the same as say MK2 Superb or other VW cars as MK3 Superb glass seems quite rare.

Given the part number starts 3V0, they are probably specific to the MK3 Superb...

I have had a look and can see the part number 926-2371-001 which seems to be the same as the Octavia. Parts are popping up in EU that are the same number with auto dimming and blind spot feature so the same as I have. Looking at the backing plate I cannot see any missing or broken parts - just the glass and the repeater lamp which is also replaceable. The cover has half popped off so I think I need to unscrew the screws and remove the glass then the repeater and hopefully re clip everything back into place. There is zero damage to the painted shell which is a miracle.

Sadly no other glass fits.

it has to be specific.

regarding which glass and if you’re not fussed about the dimming function I have a non dimming one that has heated and blind spot for Sale on eBay for £40. I only have the OS/right side left

Link please? And would you post to Ireland?  I have repaired what I have by re seating the shell and reinstalling the broken mirror supported by clear tape. I will need to replace the repeater lamp as this took the hit. Any idea what part number this may be?  Everything clicked back into place so I was lucky nothing inside appears to be damaged.

Cheers

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325059001387 is the link to my listing - if you want to buy, message me on here instead of ebay and we can work something out.

For the side repeater part number is:

Left: 3V0949101

Right: 3V0949102
