Door ajar light turns on when starting the igntion and goes of after few mins of locking the car

Featured Replies

Started fidling with the fuses and got the problem fixed but the remote central locking system stops working if done

Wiring loom where it passes from pillar to the door?

Common for broken wires in that location.

Through the rubber boot?

Yes, not saying it is the fault, but would be worth a peek inside.

Ok I’ll check once, and the lock, unlock blinkers stopped working aswell from the time this problem started

If the door cannot communicate the actual lock status, then your blinkers cannot confirm either.

If you have access to a fault code reader, you might have a short to earth or some such.

The problem is that I’m from india where most of the garages don’t use fault code reader and these car’s are disappearing because of lack of good service providers

Yeah going to be hard without tool to read fault codes, as we can only apply best guesses.

The fuse that went, was probably a warning that a wire was shorting, and it did its job.

Start with the rubber grommet between door and body, carefully try to look for a broken wire.

Maybe look online somewhere to purchase a cheap fault code reader that can scan / erase codes if possible?

Check all the doors or driver’s side only?

Take a look here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/23-diagnostics-amp-vcds/

I use VCDS mainly, but they are not cheap.

Many fairly cheap scanners online can just about read the car, but wait for some answers, or look on the thread location.

Edit: Start with driver door as it gets the most use.

Driver's only. I had similar issues in all my Skoda cars through the years since 2002.

All caused by broken wires within the rubber bellows at driver's door.

A bit of soldering and problems solved.

Checked and all the wires look good inside the rubber.

Forgot to mention that this problem started after someone bashed my boot and it got a big dent near the emblem

Maybe it could be related to sensor in the boot?

That would have been ideally in your first post.

It could be your boot lock is kaput or wiring loom damage in that location.

I'm fairly certain there's no "sensor" but a switch in the boot lock itself.

It will tell car if locked or unlocked.

Exact location?

Exact location?

Part of the lock mechanism itself (internal) so very easy to see lock mechanism.

Checked but everything seems fine in and near the boot lock mechanism.

You cannot see really a faulty microswitch, which I am sure is how it sends back to car a boot open signal.

It could also be a drop in Voltage upon starting that is showing up as an error, as the control units are sensitive to drop in power.

Perhaps you need to replace this part (the lock) or wait for it to become fully permanent and it stays on all the time.

Ok, like the brake light switch, what is the switch above the clutch pedal?

After changing the hazard light switch, my lock/unlock blinkers have stopped working. But hazard lights and indicators do work. Is it anything to do with the switch?
