Fabia fuel cap cover problem

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had problems with the fuel cap cover on the Fabia not closing?

The girlfriends vRS closes nearly flush but will not catch on the latch to stay closed flush to the side of the car, its under warranty but just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem, thanks

If you do a search it should come up, i think there is even a how to with pictures.

I found this out during the install of my lpg. :o I knocked the clip out of position from the inside while ferkeling inside the boot, above the right wheel arch.... then found the filler cap wouldn't shut. I managed to re-insert the cable OK though.

has one been ferkeling around the back?

The fuel cap cover problem can be caused by pressure on the cover catch when refuelling. Just be careful to park close enough to the pump to ensure the nozzle drops easily into the filler pipe. If you park too far away the nozzle applies excessive pressure on the clip and displaces it.

Forgot to mention your dealership workshop have a quick fix using adhesive to secure the clip in position

Got the same problem today when I stopped to refuel. Opened OK, but wont shut and latch anymore. Dealer reckons 45 min warranty fix.

What? Are they doing it blind folded with one arm behind thier back...lol

Still who cares if its warranty.

No idea, all I know is it is an irritating break in my day costing me money. From what I read, it is a case of boot liner out and hook and glue it back on. Cant be 15 mins, but to be fair, they usually sort stuff out quicker than they allocate anyway.

When filling with fuel be sure to park with the pump adjacent to the offside of the car otherwise stretching the hose from a pump on the nearside can cause the nozzle to press on the the clip and displace it.
