OK, youv'e twisted my arm :rolleyes: . Any GPS device needs a direct line of sight to the satelites which give the device it's location, therefore a mounting somewhere on the dashboard is the only gauranteed place to get proper use. That said, I did try mine in the cubby hole in my MkI Octy and it worked OK in some areas but was not 100% reliable.

That's 'cos the Talex has a 6 month subscription and update cable provided, whilst the Talex Lite has no "free subs" and when you do subscribe there's a

I have had mine for six months and have just renewed

the subs ........ have gone for the 3 yrs option saved

Thanks for the McAfee tip, Pete, I can't see why it should matter but I'll bear it in mind when I do my update. I agree with you about the display in bright light, it's the only thing I've found to fault so far.

Got my Talex Lite update kit today, couple of false starts getting the thing to connect but everything worked eventually and, contrary to Pete's statement, no problem with McAfee firewall. I don't have the Privacy option iinstalled, so maybe that's the key issue.
