How do the keys come out without taking the display out?

I'm trying to remove the Fabia August 2015 (MY16) display and none of the keys fit from the package bought.

However some long ones like :

 

Seem to fit but have got one jammed in and only have 2. Does the head unit have to be removed to get the keys out?
