Driving in France

Featured Replies

I bought a Mk4 Fabia SEL earlier this year and am very pleased with it. I'm off to France in it soon and want to adapt the headlights to drive on the right-hand-side. From looking at posts on this forum other SEL models can adapt the headlights via the software but mine does not offer this. The leaflet from the Eurolites adaptor kit that I bought only refers to standard headlights or projector/xenon types and specifies different positions to place the adaptors on the headlights for each. I am confused! Does anyone know which diagram I should follow, or what else I might do? Thanks for your help.

Marco.

Models with LED headlights do not need adaptors, so if you bought it in error, would take it back to the shop

On infotainment, go into car / settings (cogwheel icon) / lights (bulb icon) and should be a travel mode option.  If you don’t have that then I think you don’t need to adjust anything.

from handbook

Adjust headlights for driving in right / left-hand traffic

Applies to headlights with adaptive functions.

  • In Infotainment, select the following menu:

  • Activate the travel mode function.

Adapt headlights for the opposite direction of traffic - driving abroad

Applies to headlights without adaptive functions

  • Seek the help of a specialist garage.

Might be sensible to also order a crit air sticker, and remember that certain parts of France now require winter rated tyres at certain times of year.
