Main beam light not working

Featured Replies

My main beam light stopped working on LHS . I changed bulb but it still not working. OBD show code B121715.

Can someone please help?

Welcome,

That error code is for an open circuit or a short in wiring.

Finding and fixing is another thing altogether.

Do you have any experience with finding these wiring faults?

Got any equipment to check Voltages?

At least you have an A-B comparison, as you can probe one headlight (working) to get expected values for each wire.

Then compare the same wire (with wiring diagrams) to see which Pin(s) are getting or not getting the supply Voltage.

Prepare for a learning curve.

https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do

Cost about 7 Euro for 1hr, you can download the entire wiring and repair information.

What headlamps have you got, do you have a photo of the top of them to see the part number.

Have any modifications been done to the car?

If you have Halogen, Xenon, Xenon with SLA they will ALL have different high beam setups.

Also last question, is the car a new purchase to you?

Hello , what as the solution to this problem ?

Can you share please ?

I'm thinking its the ballast module 8k0941597b, do you guys think it's better to buy the original or there is good aftermarket part like hella ?

I switched my ballast and the problem was solved in May. Now "August" the right one failed to, do you guys thinks the problem might be the led lights I retrofited, that are jamming them, they worked for almost 2 years without a problem . The car is nine years old maybe they run their lifetime.

If you are feeding LED lights off the output of the ballast then yes I'd suspect the LED lights are causing the failure.

It seems this time it was actually the bulb it self. I'm replacing both.
