Acceleration problem

Featured Replies

I own a 2008 skoda octavia vrs 2.0 tfsi, I’ve owned it 5 years, its by far the most reliable car I’ve ever owned and I honestly love it! Recently

it’s developed a problem sometimes when I accelerate, it just kind of stutters at 3000rpm then again at 4000 and by the time it’s got to 5000 rpm it’s just a constant struggle for it to accelerate and  the sound from the exhaust is terrible. If you drive it normally you wouldn’t notice it’s got a problem it’s just under hard acceleration and it’s not all the time but it doesn’t take long to start playing up.
A bit of history on the car, I never did any mods to it untill this year, the air box fell apart so I brought a Revo 3.5” intake, then the exhaust silencer snapped off so I brought a Jetex resonated cat back exhaust, then decided to get it mapped.

Scine it was mapped I notice when I pull up sometimes it has irregular idle and bounces between 700 and 1500 rpm, never really caused any issues tho.
About a month ago I had some de carbon work done, the inlet manifold wasn’t removed or cleaned he just sprayed a vapour into the intake.

I noticed from the next day onward it just didn’t start as quickly as I did pre-decarbon….some times it’ll start for two seconds sounding ruff then cut out, (it’s never done this before the de-carbon) you start the car again and it sound fine and starts as it should. I have it to a garage yesterday to read the error codes and it was clear with no faults.

If anyone has any ideas, Ide really appreciate it

cheers

How old are the plugs? It would be a good idea to get a code read done.

I had it plugged in and read for codes yesterday, it had no codes on it but there’s clearly a problem.
I had the coil packs and plugs done 18 months ago so plugs are probably due, but I think the engine warning light came up when they failed last time

Welcome.

Best not wait for Misfires enough in a cycle to give fault codes and have an Exhaust Emission light come on.

Check them and as well to replace since they are out.

?

Are you using E10 95 ron, or E5 97 or 99?

If not using super unleaded it is maybe worth getting a tankful and see how that goes.
