Octavia 3 Engine mode button not working

Featured Replies

The engine mode button on my 2.0 tdi CR is “ stuck” fortunately in normal.

Although I regard this mode selection a bit of a gimmick I do like things to work as they should.

Any views on rectification other than visit dealer?

Many thanks

Hopefully someone can help.

No idea why you consider it to be a bit of a gimmick.

When did it last work, or you use it?

Hi,

last worked about 8 months ago.

Exactly what happens when you press the button?

If nothing happens at all, it's likely a faulty button and needs replacing or possibly cleaning.

Hi,

Nothing happens when the button is pressed. It “sits” marginally lower than the other buttons in the panel ahead of the gear stick.

Then yes, it's likely a faulty button.

If you're happy with taking small things apart, you can probably remove the entire button set and try dissembly, cleaning and re-assembly.

If not, I'd suggest popping them out to check the part number and replacing the entire set :)

Thanks for your suggestion. I’ll give it a go.

They are not too hard to access. Push the the phone cubby lid back, remove the rubber mat and you can lift up the gearstick/DSG fascia panel from there. The buttons are annoyingly all built into a solid block, you can't just easily remove one button to replace it (I wanted to move a button but I couldn't do this easily) but you can probably find a second hand unit or give it a clean.

mines working ok but does not light up, is there a replaceable bulb in there?  sorry for thread drift

I have opened my switch block and the lamp is built into the printed circuit board and doesn’t seem to be replaceable. The PCB is very small 35 x 1o mm roughly z. It is a separate component so may be available as a part.
