Hi all, I've owned an Octavia MK3 1.5tsi for 4ish years that has just developed a dump valve whoosh between gear changes.  Never heard it before and pretty sure I would have. Am I due an expensive garage bill or have the turbo fairies given me a new part?

How many miles on the car now,

and has there been any servicing recently, even the air box opened and the Air Filter checked?

About 30k, and yes, serviced last week...   Oddly though it was running *very* well after the service, more so than the usual fresh oil feel.  Guess I'll be poking around under the bonnet tomorrow

Check that Oil Filler cap is on correctly, and the dipstick is where it should be.

Dip the oil cold and see how much there is, and then dip at operating temp after at least 5 miles at this time of year.

 

Was that service at a Main Dealers,

& How much did the service cost?

 

After you check under the bonnet i would be asking where it was serviced if there was any Software Update carried out, and have the person check that with who did the work.

If there was ask why you were not informed.

Was the Air Filter actually replaced?    It was not due to be, but if checked and requiring a change it should be.  But then you would be paying for that.

 

On the old Service Regime pre 2021 the Spark Plugs were replaced @ 4 years / 40,000 miles as were the Air Filter.  

That changed with the Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope.

The only time I've experienced a dump valve whoosh is when I had an Audi 8L S3 chip tuned which increased the boost substantially, seems to me that your comment "running *very* well" suggests something has happened to the boost control?

Sadly no new tune or valves, just a hose that has fallen off!  Anyone know the purpose of this one?
