Laurin&Klement Superb

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just got myself a skoda superb Laurin and Klement 2.0 tdi.

It's an awesome car,  but was just wondering about the Laurin&Klement badge, should there only be one on the drivers side panel and not the passengers side too ?

I only have it on the drivers side.

Thanks

Should be one on each wing, but they are easy to damage whilst washing the car.

OK thanks Gizmo,

Do you know where I can get another badge please ?

Superskoda used to sell them, or your dealer

OK

thanks again Gizmo

You don't really want that tacky cheap and nasty L&K badge on the wings do you?

Mine were off and in the bin within 20 minutes of being delivered.

The gear knob decal 'DSG 4x4' was quickly replaced too.

I get what you mean, but it does add a nice touch, maybe there's a flat badge or decal that doesn't stick up so as to not interfere when cleaning the car

Mine were removed the same day we got the car too - really cheap and nasty. All the boot badges came off too.

Always baffles me how the sportline badge is nice, fitted and clean looking.

Then the L&K badge looks like something from the halfords clearance bin, they could of put so much more effort into it, made it nicer!

I think you should be proud to have the L&K badge on your Superb, they are a really rare car indeed in the UK, last time I checked I think I checked there were less than 20 in the UK.

I think you are mistaken sorry, there is a lot more than 20, even a lot more than 200, theres more than a good few thousand L&K model mk3 superbs in the uk

EDIT:

431 currently registered L&K 2.0 tsi 280bhp 4x4 models specifically

YTD, 1,592 280/272’s have been registered in the U.K. from launch, with 660 of those being L&Ks. What skews the numbers are the inconsistencies in the way the DVLA have identified the model types. So you have….

  • SUPERB L & K TSI 4X4 S-A and SUPERB LAURIN &KLEM TSI 4X4 SA;
  • SUPERB SE L EXCTIVE TSI 4X4 SA and SUPERB SE L EXEC TSI 4X4 SA and
  • SUPERB SPORTLINE + TSI 4X4 S-A and SUPERB SPORTLINE TSI 4X4 S-A.

And having said that, a number of these could’ve been given the completely wrong designation too, with one of the Cossies I had being registered as a Sierra 2.0 GLX !

What I meant to also say was, they are a bloody rare car! As an example, there have been 2,660 Bentley Bentayga V8s🤮 registered during the same time the 280/272 have been available.

I removed my L&K badges on the wings along with all the boot badges as well. For me, it’s a much cleaner look and no hassle cleaning around or catching the badges when washing.

Yeah, I think you might be right with the Mk3, but I was talking about the Mk2 like mine, Skoda Superbs used to be almost trade secret but gradually over the years I see more and more of them on the road as the motoring public wake up to the cars abilities.

Here is the data for my particular model which shows only 14 out of 16 still on the UK roads.

By comparison here is the data on a Vanden Plas Princess that I used to have, of which there are still on the road, since 1998, 202 out of 307 are still taxed and in use, so that makes my Superb ever rarer but it flies under the radar because of the use of common bodyshell is used on all Superbs within their Mk type with just the chrome trim being tweaked externally.

I'd honestly rather have the Superb L & K 280 than that repulsive Bentley!

I agree, it’s appalling. But I’m using that as an example of a car which one would possibly presume has been sold in the low ‘00’s, actually being far more “common” than its distant VW cousin.
And why on earth would you buy a car which looks like that, with a Bentley badge, but knowing it is actually the same as the car called Cayenne, which is the same car called Q8 or, heaven forbid, Urus? And then over at BMW, there is the X7… or is it a Rolls Royce Cullinan? 🙄
