DSG service costs

Featured Replies

How much should I be looking at paying for a full DSG gearbox service?

A Main Dealer that does Fixed Price Servicing & Maintenance prices might be £215 or now £220 to service a 6 or 7 speed wet clutch DSG.

If it is a 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG so a DQ200 it does not need Service / Oil Changes, but some have it done and Dealerships might charge anything.

@t13nyr

 If you have bought a Skoda Approved Used car or a Skoda Warranty for your car it is not valid if the car is used as a Taxi / Private Hire vehicle.

Maybe an Independent garage familiar with DSG's would be better for having servicing done on your car,

unless the Main Dealerships are cheaper which they actually can be.

Which box would my iV have?

If you have the 6 speed DQ250 I offer it for with a online service history update and print out;

£150 using oe spec parts

£239 using genuine parts

(I believe dealers are £250/260 now but may be wrong)

Edit: Skoda charge £257.06 near me.

@j caff  I think you have a DQ400-e with a 1.4 TSI PHEV.    Check that with a Dealership.

As to your Car / Engine Servicing, i assume your car is on Fixed Service Oil & Filter changes.

?

Is that at 9,000 / 9,4000 miles ?

Many thanks for your replies.....mine is a 6 speed box. It does say full history but I would like to have the engine and gearbox oils changed now so I know it defo has been done .......just a piece of mind.

@t13nyr   I love a Full History.

 Especially if it is a History showing all Servicing & Maintenance done to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or even a schedule which many are not.

Even Skoda Approved Used cars with Main Dealer Service Histories might not have a history of stuff done on time, or even done.

Every 15,000km I'm in Ireland.

Just to mention that there isn’t really a “full Dsg gearbox service”. The only service item is to change the oil and filter (if it is a wet clutch version). The oil is very expensive and it takes 6 litres I think. About £85 just to buy the oil and filter from TPS for DIY. Add an hour’s labour  (although in reality it doesn’t take that long).

Sorry to burst the bubble but genuine oil from tps is around £20 a litre meaning the oil alone is £120, then the filter and new washer you are looking at roughly £160 for the genuine parts from tps. I very much wish it was £85 for the parts but not a hope in hell of that.

The only reason dealers are so competitive on the price is they are partially subsidized and also buy the oil in massive amounts.

Yes I am a bit rose tinted specs. I just checked the TPS invoice from Sept 2019. £85 for the oil, PLUS £16.91 for the filter PLUS £4.27 for the o ring PLUS VAT on the lot = £128. . Obviously this is where I got the “£85” in my head from.

Next TPS invoice March 2022 £109 for the oil PLUS £24 for the filter PLUS £6.35 for the O ring PLUS VAT = £167. 30% inflation between 2019 and 2022!

Still cheaper than a dealer service AND if you do it yourself you know it’s been done properly. Or even at all!

Yeah the price increase is crazy! Makes it hard for me to compete with dealer pricing on DSG servicing!
