Does anyone have any idea if the gear shifter (https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5j0711113mdoq-leatherette-gear-lever-handle-18250.html) on the Skoda Fabia 2 facelift (year and month of manufacture 12/2010) has the following mechanism:

 

 

or it has this one:

 

 

I would like to try to change it, and I would prefer the first option, but I don't know exactly how it is.

The 2 pictures are totally different in shape as well, one is square the other round at the base, not a big issue but indicates a very different fitment and the bottom one is not even a Fabia.

I searched on YouTube to see how the gear shifter is changed and I saw videos in which the mechanism looks like in the first picture, and videos in which it looks like in the second (in the second picture it is not Fabia, but the mechanism is the same). My shifter cover came off, and I don't think if I try to glue it on, it won't hold, so I was thinking of changing it entirely.

That's why I would be interested to know what kind of mechanism it has.

My 2012 has the same mechanism as the first one if that's any addition.

If its the same as my one then you just twist that little locking mechanism and it all comes off.

Get a trim tool (or flat screwdriver if you're brave) and slip it between the centre console and gaiter. Should prise up. Be careful if you're rough you might break it.
