Engine Light - Diagnostics - Timing chain

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Thought I'd join you all on here as hopefully I can gain some advice about my current problem.n

I'm the owner of a 2012 Fabia mk 2 with the three pot 1.2 HTP, the other day whilst on a short trip the engine light came on and so next day I book it into the garage so they can run diagnostic on it.

The engine idled slightly rough on start up and definitely needed a little encouragement.

Mileage - around 87k with last service February.

I though it might be the coil pack as I have read these break down quite frequently.

The scan at the garage indicated timing chain correlation out of sync - yes, the same issue as previously read on here and else where.

Garage suggested tensioner may be blocked so not doing its job and carry out an oil flush to check wether it might sort the timing back into sync.

Would this work ?

Otherwise replace timing chain etc.

Thanks

Si

No it won't work.

There is a repair kit available containing new chain, sprockets and tensioners, fitting it will fix all the problems.
