Skoda superb no ignition and engine won't turn on

Featured Replies

My car was sitting idle for a couple of weeks, battery had gone bad. Bought a new one, installed it but the ignition refuses to turn on.

Any help would he appreciated

Have you checked it's not a faulty starter motor ?

The dash doesn't light up. When we turn our key to the ignition position, the dash lights up then we fire up the starter, but the dash itself doesn't light up.

Check fuses.  Removing battery, terminals could have touched something and popped a fuse.

The car is currently at my friends garage, we've checked all fuses, all are ok. Checked the ones below the steering wheel and the ones in the engine bay.

If it was okay until you changed the battery then it has to be  something you've disturbed?  Have you checked the wiring to the battery and terminals?

It was ok till I parked it and let it sit idle. It is some electrical issue, but dont know what.

The positive and negative terminals are connected properly. Tried using a different battery but same issue. Tried using both my keys, but the same issue.

Not really sure. We did solve it though. We resat many cables and wires. Replaces quite a few fuses. I even replaced the spiral cable of the steering, I have a strong suspicion that it was the steering spiral which did the trick. But I can't be sure.
