Is that not door lock thing? I've literally just changed a door and door card, only to find that the window mechanism in my replacement door is fried.... rather annoying!!

2013 Superb Estate with +100k miles on it here. Had the 4 wheel alignment done with new tyres, also running CrossClimate2's. I've just replaced springs, shocks and drop links on the car as the suspension was horribly soft and clunky. One rear shock was misting, so it was time to do them all. Big difference is that the car handles a lot better now. Even tyre wear since the alignment and better fuel consumption as well. Been pleased with how it all handles now.

Springs and Shocks all replaced with Bilsteins, also had the drop links done at the same time. The bushes were all in good condition, so were fine. Car is so much better now. I've done around 500 miles, including narrow country roads and motorway work. It is so much more stable under braking, cornering and general handling, who would have thought it! Worth spending the money.

I am glad to hear this. I'm getting my Skoda Estate refreshed with Bilstein shocks front and rear and the Bilstein springs as well. 1.4TSi here, but it does what it needs to so. Because I am doing an extra 1200 miles a month, I need to get it riding properly as I am doing a lot of country roads and you can feel how tired the OEM suspension is now. Also having a local mechanic do the work as it is simpler for me. Just waiting for EVRI to deliver the goods, they have not found my house for two days how. How hard is it for find The Vicarage next to the 13th Century Church that has a big "Vicarage - ARROW THIS WAY ---> sign.... and a sign on the Vicarage as well saying Vicarage!!!! Bought from AutoDoc, so no choice on delivery agents.

Could also be that the gas struts are on the way out. I've recently replaced mine, 5 minute job tops and the boot now goes up smoothly and quickly.

I used to do this for years, but now as a Vicar and not having the time to do the work, I farm it out to someone who has the tools and time. I have a Triumph Speed Triple as a backup vehicle, so am able to get about while the car is being sorted.

They were okay with me supplying the parts, so long as I bought the right stuff that was clearly for my vehicle (AutoDoc makes that easy). And they are a decent with two two posters and a four poster hoist. They do MOT's, servicing, tyres, repairs and so on. Just down the road from me as well, so a short walk (10 mins).

When they did the brakes recently, these were deemed okay. So that should be okay...... famous last words.

I have a bit of a horror story with servicing stop. I thought the convenience of having the car taken away for servicing and being returned afterwards for £150 (including the speciality oil charge I was expecting) was reasonable enough. However, I received a quote from them after a few hours as in photo. Utterly ridiculous charges. I told them to change oil and filter and leave the rest. I've bought the belt for less than £20 from AutoDoc and will change that myself. I had already put in cataclean equivalent into the system the week before. Car passed MOT with no advisories two weeks before servicing. They also drove the car some 40 miles to and from what was supposed to be a local service centre, they disconnected my Dashcam and left it disconnected. They used the Dartford Toll x 2 in the journey, so I had to pay quickly to avoid a Penalty Charge Notice (they did not notify me that they were taking my car over the toll bridge either).

This fantastic thread has given me the impetus to actually get on with getting my suspension fully sorted, front and rear. I've been very fortunate in having a local garage that will do all the work of replacing the shocks, springs, control links, bolts, rubber stops and covers for circa £250 labour change. I used AutoDoc to order all the bits and pieces in, getting Bilstein shocks and springs, all the ancillary bits as well. I'm looking forward to my 100,700 mile estate floating along a bit more smoothly once the work is completed. The total cost of all the bits and pieces (I added some service items as well) is £465 for all the quality items. Also having the brake fluid flushed and changed.

And the new regulator is in. Did not take too long and was a simple enough job. The OBD11 sorted any faults and what nots from the blat fattery. Glad that job is over. I did lube the wires with ACF50 an anticorrision spray and also sprayed the window runners with silicon oil to ease their movement. Worked a treat and window slides up and down nicely.

OBDEleven did the trick. Airbag light off. Most issues caused by failing battery. New Bosch battery has more cold start amps and is physically larger. The new window regulator is now here so will be fitted today. Here we go again....

Airbag light is on after trying to swap the regulators over. Not too difficult, but they sent the wrong bits. It does not have the supports that allow the lugs to log into it. A different lug and they just fell off the rails. Took them out and ordered another one with the correct parts, did a visual check first. Window held up with tape.... Not ideal. Airbag light does not clear after a couple of drives, so need to find someone with VCDS or similar to clear this. Or buy Carly and use that, if it works!

And my battery went flat. Just moved house, so the charger is packed somewhere by the movers in the deep recesses of a box... bought another one. Will have to replace battery at some point.
