Replacing KESSY exterior door handle

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has replaced a KESSY door handle themselves? I need a wee bit of info.

I mean if it was me, I’d be disabling Kesey for security so I guess the first question would be what’s your reason for the change?

1: The info I'm looking for can only come from someone who's changed a kessy door handle themselves otherwise we'll end up with a thread full of armchair experts replying with their best guesses.

2: I'm confused why my post has been moved to the Kodiaq forum?  I didn't post my question in the Kodiaq forum because it doesn't concern a Kodiaq. It's on a Karoq but that's irrelevent as my question is applicable to any car with KESSY. There's a whole bunch of Skoda models past and present that use the exact same part - Fabia3, Fabia4, Kamiq, Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia3, Scala and Superb3.

Can you please move my question back to the general area so those owners have a chance to reply?

The handle certainly needs to be removed ( which is easy to do ) due to damage. It may need to be replaced.

With all due respect, my question has nothing to do about the pros and cons of kessy security. It's of no interest to me if others which to disable KESSY, I'm only interested in a specific KESSY matter.

Thanks.

Because of your username, I assumed it was a kodiaq. I moved it as the model specific threads usually get a lot more responses than general.

Calm… I mentioned that I’d disable it as these keyless entry systems are the most common way to steal a car. This is quite an issue for most brands at the moment.

I asked why because if you were replacing a handle because a fault meant you had to press buttons i was going to suggest that might be a good thing in the current time.

Details and part numbers can also be downloaded/printed by taking out a short (hour) subscription to the EKTA catalog.

If you really want it in general I will put it back there, but as I say you’d probably get more reply’s under a model forum.

I'd like my post to be posted where I intended it to be posted.

As for calm...   I'd appreciate it if people do not reply to questions that were never asked. When people do that the OP has to then read thru load of irrelevent information.

Again with all due respect, if you want to discuss car security and stealing cars then either reply to a security discussion  ( there's lots to chose from ) or start a brand new thread. Your reply has no relevence whatsoever on me seeking technical help.

Thanks for the information re: EKTA etc. but I know that all ready. I'd just like people to answer the question I asked. If nobody has then no worries.

For certain cars yes, By having a handle that doesnt work does not stop the kessy system from working at all. There are still ways, There is also no way to disable the system entirely all the time.

Skoda especially new ones are much better protected against keyless theft and as long as your key is kept in a safe place youre pretty safe.

Now on to the actual handle.

Its very simple to replace, on the door jam area is a small plastic black cover that is in line with the handle, remove this and loosen the T20/T25 screw inside, then pull the door handle and this will allow you to remove the small cap located towards the back of the handle. Now as you open the handle a second time pull it towards the back of the car in the now open space, the handle will pop out. You should now unplug the connector and replace in the reverse order.

It’s called moderation, and I was trying to find information to deal with a post report.

Generally people treat a forum as a two way street rather than a free resource.
I will at this point just refer you to the forum guidelines and suggest you have a read before you carry on.

They can be found here:
