2013 fabia greenline est electric problem

Featured Replies

Hi my fabia greenline estate has developed a crazy electrical problem . When shut car off sometimes it won't shut off .or when I lock car about 10 mins in the car decides to start it's fan and all things on dash light up and alarm sounds .

I have been disconnecting the battery all the time as alarm keeps going off during night .and it needs to be left unlocked .any one know how this is happening.it just suddenly started

Welcome.

I flagged your post so a mod can move it to the Mk2 Fabia section.

As an interim can you not lock car with bonnet open, open bonnet fully to disconnect battery and then shut bonnet, opening car with key in door to reverse. Just be sure car does not deadlock when locking as key probably won't overide this. May be best doing a trial with a window open.

I have just been opening bonnet and disconnecting battery and leaving car completely open . Have you any idea what causes this elec fault mate.im a joiner and do not have a clue about cars 😅 had the AA out but total waste of time as they sent a huge recovery truck and a guy who wasn't a mechanic. he was stumped . Ran diagnostic .perfect tested battery perfect .it only happened during this recent non stop rain ,do you know if that could cause this . really appreciate you taking time to try help me mate

Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything.

Sounds like it's the rain - or water getting on to your electrics, with your original post I did wonder about the ignition switch but with the rain bit now added more general electrics, or hitting the top of the dash to bring it on or try to stop it, or perhaps the wires that bridge the door.  -  Stick around some electrics experts might/should be along later.

Suggest looking at either end of the scuttle area between the windscreen and bonnet which should have piped drains that will empty rain water, or even car wash water into the wheel wells - tend to get full of leaves etc. If these get blocked there is a chance of water running into the bonnet area where items such as the ECU are located on the firewall (vertical wall between engine and passenger compartment).
