Skoda Octavia 1.6 FSI bizarre battery light flick on split second when driving

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Yesterday  evening whilst driving, the battery light indicator flashed on twice on a 55minute 35 mile trip. The flash was about 10mins apart.
The weather has been really wet the last 3 days constant rain, but stopped that late afternoon.

The first time it flashed on I doubted myself in whether I saw it come on.
My first thought was whether the attenuator was about to fail leaving us stranded waiting for the breakdown service.
I then kept a close eye on the battery indicator and it flashed on once more.

I noticed it flashed on when changing up to fifth gear and the revs dropping. I then thought is the car stalling whilst changing gear. But the other indicator (EPC) didn’t come on.

Once we got to our destination all was ok with the car, perhaps it was idling a little rougher than usual but maybe it was mind thinking what could be wrong with the car.

On the way home car was fine no battery indicator flashing on.

Any ideas what could be wrong?
Alternator belt slipping?

( I had tensioner, pully and bent replaced 2 years ago)

Alternator on its way out?
(however I thought they would fail not deteriorate)

Many Thanks
