At a guess, I'd say to help out @hkboi :

I've had a quick look at your thread @hkboi and unfortunately does sound very much like the fault I had. As described in this thread, I ultimately had the mechatronic removed and sent away for reconditioning at an independent auto transmission specialist for £1100. Since then (just over a year and 12k miles) I've had further problems. Let me know if you want any further details (I'd have kept this on your thread but always intended to report back in due course to confirm the repair was still good)

Do you mean you've had NO further problems?

Oops, apologies, yes no further problems since the repair was done

Hi, I’m new on here and after some advice or at least to hear anyone else’s experiences. I have a 2019 scout which I bought in 2020 with about 3500 miles on the clock. It now has 74k and until now has run without any problems. Gearbox warning message came up about 8 weeks ago and dealership has diagnosed mechatronic unit problem. A new one has been ordered but on back order. Now into 7 weeks of waiting for part and Škoda won’t put a time on delivery. I know it can be repaired at a cost but I’m loathe to do that as for some reason Škoda have said they will pick up majority of the bill - they said this with no prompting from me, so I assume they are aware of issues or they are trying to buy me off knowing full well the replacement part will take months to come through. Anyone else having problems getting parts or any ideas how I might speed things up. Thanks.

Your comment does not give me confidence that mine will be fixed soon. I am also waiting for the mechatronic module/tcu, mine failed in february so I have only waited for 4-5 weeks. How did yours fail? Mine said sonething like “emergency mode activated no reverse gear” and then locked me in 1st. Took the positive off the battery for a few seconds and then it cleared for about 10mins and then it happened again, did the same thing and crawled home. Next day had it in Škoda and have been waiting the module ever since . Luckily the message has not come back and the box works normally. I suspect the error only happens on a very long drive

Thanks for your response. In answer to your question i was on way back down M4 from seeing a client when message came up “Gear box error, safe to drive” or words similar. It was stuck in 2nd, 4th or 6th gear, I stopped at service station and it stuck in 2nd gear so got it recovered to nearest dealership. Problem diagnosed on 22nd Jan and since then every excuse under the sun from skoda as to why no part. Dealership has, on the face of it, done its best. All i want is a straight answer from Skoda on how long it will be off the road.

Hi mine went to the dealership on the 27/12 with the fault above. I got it back on the 30/01

Lucky you!! They just won’t say anything other than it’s on back order. Dealer says part is made in Ukraine and Škoda says material shortages. Not sure where to go now, do I see if I can get the part mended elsewhere or do I SORN the vehicle and wait?

Mine was still under warranty so a no brainer for me.

Well Škoda just called and said they have my mechatronics control module, therefore I think yours should’ve arrived by now or should be arriving soon

Just needs fitting by someone that knows what they are doing, or as is only too common it is back to square one.

Amazing how many get it wrong.

I'm back on the road now, so here's hoping!!
