Brake servo restricted - looking for advice

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help!

I have a 2019 Octavia, and yesterday while out driving it suddenly came up with an orange warning and the message 'Brake servo restricted'.  Braking works but judders as you slow down.  I'd searched on google and this came up as a frequent Audi issue, but couldn't find anything about Octavias - on the Audi it seems to be a case of buying a replacement sensor.

My questions are:

  • Has anyone had this, understand what the fault is?
  • How serious is it - can the car be used before repair?
  • If it is a case of replacing the sensor, where I can find it under the bonnet/is it something that somebody like me with no clue about cars can do themselves?

Thanks!

I just posted about mine having this too, and hadn't seen your post.   Did you get anywhere with this?

I saw the same Audi post on a VAG forum and got my local VAG independent place to change the sensor and it's made no difference for me.

I posted here today before I end up taking it to the dealer for them to random do things until they do (or don't) resolve it 😕

Was just looking through the contents of the brake systems and it's on there...

Need to do a brakes change myself and I've been looking around.

The legit manuals from skoda themselves.. Might well explain on there but can't say how it will be to fix it..

You have to purchase for a flat rate for access over a choice of time ranging from 1 hour to 1 year.

Not very cheap but says you get printing rights during the time period so seems fair enough.

It was a little bit tricky to find..

From the home screen - I clicked the tab Individual vehicle information.

Drop down box model - Octavia 3 (5E.....)

Drop down box - repair manuals

Drop down box - chassis

Then click brake systems.

Loads a PDF.

You'll see servo listed.

For anyone coming across this post.

I had brake servo restricted come on with the orange triangle warning light on dash. Did a search and found about the Audi but not much on Octavia however what I found out was it was supposed to be the brake servo pressure sensor faulty or failed but in my case the part that attached to the sensor had a cracked wire which was causing the problem.

I was quoted 250 to 300 to replace both.

I decided to try sort it myself and I bought the part with broken wire for 6 online delivered then I use a solder joiners to connect wires.

Hey presto problem solved the warning light gone and brakes working perfectly.IMG_20250422_171414.jpgIMG_20250422_171414.jpgIMG_20250426_154422.jpg
