Deactivate lane assist function possible ?

Featured Replies

Ok So I know the target car isn't Skoda, but it is VAG or whatever the term is now 😋

Basically, on my sister's Seat and on my probable next car, the lane assist has to be deactivated every time the ignition is turned on, it will not remember the setting.

Can this be coded to remember last setting, or if not, disabled somehow, as I (and She) do not like it ?

I don't have vcds, but if it can be done then likely OBD11 which I do have would have it.

?

What actually is your sisters SEAT and is it operating correctly, and does she know how it does and can she actually stay in her own lane, not stray and indicate if changing lane?

Pressing the button at times you do need it off is easy, like putting on a heated screen, the stop / start, the radio etc.

one push once and another push when you want to activate again.

It could be disabled and it will depend on which actual VW Group model / year etc.

Not that all do need disabled if they behave as they should and are adjustable.

Some Lane Keep Assist Systems are great as the one on a Golf 2.0 TDI DSG i had a loan of recently.

Any just just a light flash, a wee tug of the wheel to alert you, or whatever.  If your hands are on the wheel you have full control, it just 'Assists'.

Not intrusive in any way.

It only operated when on straights and not on corners, & above certain speeds and not in street lit areas.  As most do.

My Corsa Electric Lane Keeping assist is also perfect and is left on.

I think its a Tarraco probably around a 19 plate.

Yes I know if you indicate it wont interfere, but my car I can just turn it off and it stays off, her apparently does not,. Talking to the dealer when looking at a new car, all newer cars will default to on.

Its just an assist that is not necessary IMO, if you cant stay in your own lane, you shouldn't be driving, if you are feeling tired you should stop somewhere safe and rest/grab a coffee/get some fresh air.

I don't know what adjustability it has, I borrowed her car and as I was not expecting it the first time I went to change lanes on the DC and had a surprise !

I asked why she hadn't turned it off, and she explained that it resets every time and bugged her, as it would me a bit.

Sure, you can soon get used to using indicators when you don't need to, but I do hate it when assists are forced on you. You should always have the option to disable them full time in the cars menu if that's your preference.

Lol ... she can stay in lane, Its more about having an "assist" that is not desired !

It would appear, having just looked at the OBD11 app, that I can choose to have it start on at Ignition, off at ignition, or remember last setting at ignition.

So that's pleased me :)

I find that it's much less annoying if it's set to steering wheel vibrate in the settings.   So far in this setting it hasn't beeped at me.

Odd... on my Karoq I can set the Lane Assist to be on or off via a button on the steering wheel (which gives access to the Assist System menu) and it then remembers my setting. I just wish it would also remember that I use the Speed Limiter function rather than the Adaptive Cruise Control as I have to reset that every time I start the car!
