After purchasing a new key, I wanted to train it so I could use it to its full potential. I bought a Vag Commander cable and software, but I can only see the instrument. The car is a Skoda Fabia II 1.4 TDI 80 ps 2009. Has anyone tried reading the instrument with Vag Commander?

There are no answer. Apparently no one has tried to programming key with Vag Commander. 🤔

I think programming keys, especially those which are part of the immobiliser system is even something VCDS cannot do without the security code, I have no experience with VAG commander

Yes it is. This is exactly why I use Vag Commander. With his help, I can get a security code with which to programming the new key. I wanted someone to help if they have dealt with something similar.

I think you can only retrieve the security code on cars up to 2006, but don't quote me on it.

It is quite possible that you are right. I have seen video of a VW Golf 5 which is about these years but not less than them.

I feel your frustration, nothing worse than trying to find an answer on the net and always finding bits here and there with no definitive guide and often people who have done the job being "shady" about helping.

 

 

Even when I bought the cable, I knew there was a chance things wouldn't work out. I'll try it on a car that I'm sure will become like this by 2005. At least to practice with the program. 😀

 i used Vag Pin Code Reader on my 58 plate Fabia to retrieve the pin from the original, and a replacement cluster, that I had to replace due to fuel gauge and outside temp gauge not working - the imobiliser is in the cluster, but I believe that the pin is also in the ECU as well and they have to match - and having the pin numbers allowed me to access the security side through VCDS, but I was not matching a new key, only the originals that I had.

 

Used the below for the swap, but cannot remember if it was a 3 or 4 immobiliser as a while ago:-
