Replace Amundsen for a Bolero screen

Featured Replies

Hello! Just New here and after my introduction, this is second post 😁.

I am planning to replace my Amundsen screen 5e0919605M (pre facelift 6,5 inch). Can i replace it for an Bolero screen 5e0919605N after facelift 8,5 inch? Only difference is that on the New screen the navigatie screen button is missing but i asume i can go to the navigation via the menu button? Read somewhere that the screen only shows what is on the mk2.5 module?

Looks like both those part no's are mib2/.5 and not mib1 which is pre facelift. Double check the part numbers.

That aside, if you have mib1 system then you will need to replace the glovebox unit which is the main head unit. Plenty info on here if you go searching. Been explained many times.

That first pic looks like mib1. But if you have smartlink you probably do have mib2. That being the case any mib2 screen will work. Not sure in mib2.5 compatibility.

Just to confirm all you need to do to get smartlink working is plug your phone in? No long press button or anything?

Goodmorning,

Correct. I know plug my phone in and Carplay starts. Also have the phonebox in the car (automatic loading my phone in the car)

Not sure I understand this bit. You mean it connects to carplay wirelessly via this box? Do you mean Bluetooth?

Sorry. I mean that when i plug in my phone it automaticly connects With carplay.

So it has to be connected by wire.

I mentioned the phonebox So perhaps you could see what the version off my currant screen is. I understand now that it was a bit confusing.

I still don't understand the reference to 'phonebox'?

There is no separate box for the phone in the OEM system - the infotainment main unit in the glovebox contains all the electronics needed for phone communication?

Aahh. So the phonebox (see picture below) is only for loading my phone.

So the (wired) carplay also runs on the unit in the glovebox? And then the screen only projects it on the screen..

That 'phonebox' is just a QI wireless charger, nothing else.

Correct - the wired CarPlay connection goes to the unit in the glovebox and the screen in the centre console is just a dumb screen.

Receveid the screen Today. Plug and play and can go too the navigationscreen by the menu.
