Just a little help on my cars value please

Featured Replies

Very very sadly im having to sell my fabia. I am looking forward to the extra much needed cash however.

Just want to make sure I dont under/overvalue my car.

Its 05 silver Vrs with xenons, cruise, 15,500miles, FSH, remap, superbly looked after, with no marks inside.

I have spotted they have lost a little value recently but that is the older versions, so I was thinking maybe put it up for

£9,500 at a guess????

No easy way to put this...

I think that is an exceptionally optimistic price. You can pick Fabia vRS up brand new for just over 11000 now.

Xenons you could argue are worth a couple of hundred quid on the price of the used car, as for cruise most people will 'take it or leave it' in the UK. Put it this way, if I looked at two cars for GBP10,750 and one had cruise and 15,500 miles and another had no cruise but 7,500 miles I would go with the lower mileage car.

The remap devalues the car to a lot of buyers (although maybe not to Briskodians reading this comment) as they view it as the engine having been under more stress than it was designed for and thus more likely to be a problem in the future. There is also the assumption that the car will have been driven hard, by an enthusiastic driver.

What I am trying to say is that you might get extra for the remap from an enthusiast, but the average joe on the street may walk away.

Also, the car's warranty could well be invalidated due to that remap if picked up by Skoda. Don't know how you will broach this with a potential buyer, but you need to mention it.

Maybe it might be easier to sell with the map removed.

All that aside though, look in Autotrader, see what other private sale vRS's are selling for at the moment, similar age/miles, within a 100 mile radius...

It doesnt matter if Parkers/CAP/GG says it's worth 10000 - if every other Fabia for sale is at 9000 then it is logic that yours will be the last to sell!

Similarly, if you want a quick sale, price a couple hundred less than all the others.

oh dear, id hoped for a bit more than that. Think ill have to start a bit higher than that even if it does go for lower in the end.

Do you think i will get more if i get the standard map put back on?

I would imagine by returning the car back to standard and never mentioning it will make the car appeal to a wider customer base. The car is 12/18 month old and brand new with zennons and cruise is available for £11900. Given that £1900 of that is vat I would say you should be happy to take £10k

^ No, I just think it will make it easier to sell, to the general public.

Morals aside, if you weren't the first owner of the car you could deny all knowledge and sell the car as 'stock', but doing this could (probably will) put someone else down the line in a very sticky insurance situation...

It is more attractive to the likes of Briskodians with the map though!

If it was me, I'd try it on Briskoda with the map for a couple of weeks at 9,750 or even 9,900, see if anyone bites.

I think Walkie got about 8,500 for his on ebay (he had a lovely black one with 17s and the AMD one click amongst other mods) but his I think was a year older, with more miles on it.

Another place to try marketing your car is Pistonheads.co.uk

Good luck with it. Shame I have my vRS already lined up when I get back to the UK or I'd be interested in yours, although good chance I'd have bought Walkies off him already!!!

Yeah i see what you mean, might as well leave the map on and see what happens.

If im not mistaken Walkies didnt have xenons and cruise which are quite attractive extras. Well hopefully anyway:)

Got £10,000 for mine in march this year. It was a march 05 and had no extras fitted. It only had 9,500 or so miles on the clock though. hope that helps

The glass's guide valuation is as follows.

Skoda Fabia vRS

1.9TD Diesel 5-door Hatchback

6 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive

Year: 2005 05

Mileage: 15,000

Estimated value of your car

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition:

£9800

Average condition:

£8920

Below average condition:

£7860

For a private sale with a metallic and xenons you should get the £9800 , but you'll probably find it easier to sell without the remap

ah right, thats good to hear. Looks like 10 ish is a possiblity.

Thanks

You're quite right.

(by the way Xenons especially are attractive extras so don't get too worried about what I said about the 7500 /15500 mile car thing. That is just what Texasjohn's view would be, not every potential buyer!).

It is very promising that one sold for 10k in March 06 though.

Fingers crossed!

Have you got GAP insurance?

Screeech....... Clonk!

I wouldn't recommend it though.

My dealer has offered to buy mine for £9500 with 23k on the clock and cruise and CD. I reckon you could get £250-500 more due to colour and Xenons. Remove the map though as it will put off dealers and private buyers alike :thumbdwn:

Against a new one I've been offered £10500 which I think is pretty good considering £11800 purchase price

I'd be happy with that.

You can effectively get into a new vRS for the price of a set of leather seats!

Edit: and you could probably get them to put your CD changer in the new Fabia as well ;)

I'm seriously considering another new one with leather (and maybe sat-nav :D ). I get a car allowance so as long as the finance can be extended 12 months at the same payment and see me in a new one I'm doing it

But I also fancy heated seats.

And ESP.

And parking sensors :gay:

And Cruise.

So I reckon it might end up costing me... Also considering an Octy II 140 TDi Elegance

Just get ESP, cruise & heated seats (600 quid total?) and retrofit the rest, perhaps...

Just an idea...

Dealer offered you a good price there. Ill pop in to mine on the way home from work, see what they say. 9800 might be ok for a no hassle sale

Adam

The dealer wont touch the car with a remap due to warranty concerns. So either dont mention it or have it removed.

We tried to get a price for my old octy vRS from our local dealer but due to the remap he wouldnt be able to sell on with a warranty so didnt want the car.
