Electrical issue Lambdasond, passenger door indicator, display and glithing headlights.

Featured Replies

Hi,

For a long time my headlight have glitched.. When the headlight switch is set to "0" half light has been on. This is quite normal on swedish cars.. (on other brands as Saab or Volvo this is normal) . During service at VAG servicepoints they have told me this is normal.. However.. when i have checked other Skoda Fabias the light has been off at "0"..

It has been like this until last week.. when the half light glitches off that often that i now need to put the light ON to be able to have a stable headlight..

Last week i have also faced problem with the passenger door indicator... It also glitches.. and mostly the car think the door is open even if its closed.. that means that the indicator at the instrument panel will show the door open and the interior light are on.. as it glitches.. the interior light will go on again after timeout. Wich will lead to a drained battery 😞

At the same time, i can readout errorcodes about the lambdasonds.. Telling me that signal grom the heaterelement are weak..

P0031, p0037, p0141 are my errorcodes..

There has also appeared a pixel error row at the instrument display that has not been there before.

I have done some reasearch.. looked att youtube videos etc..

I have checked the cables in the door.

I have checked the switch in the lock unit. (I have unassemblied lock module and tested the switch.. No problem there)

I have tested both lambdasonds by heating them up and checked that it creates 1volt.. also that there are resistanse at the heatercircuit..

There are no other faulcodes detected from my Delphi dongle.

I am suspicious about that all these fauls come at the same time.. also.is it normal that both lambdasonds break at same time?

I have now read in this forum about earth issue in the window motor.. i will check that..

Does anybody here have other tips what the fault might be?

Could it be something in the Voltage unit located behind fuse panel?

To where are the lambdasonds connected?

Thank you in advance

You probably will need wiring diagrams at this point to begin tracing wires to and from the affected parts.  You might find all of the 'roads' lead back to J519 (as an example) that handles a fair few electric circuits and could be source of your troubles.

So grab wiring diagrams from erWin Skoda, cost of 7 Euro for 1 hour and download ALL of the documents for your car (20-30 files roughly) you can also grab a build sheet of PR codes that will show the parts fitted at factory, this can help someone find the correct parts to supply your car if needed.

Hi,

Thanx for the advice about erWin skoda.. i will check that.

Do you know if the lambdasond, or the resistance/signal level measurement from lambdasond are done in the J519?

I tried to ring out cables from the ECU behind the engine to lambdasond.. but i did not get any hit there. When using Delphi diagnose tool, i can see that the lambdasond does perform both voltage and resistance (values are detected) so i guess the wires to lambdasonds are ok..

Maybe the voltage detection and resistance measurement are done in J519.. then if door connector, hadlightconnector and interior lights are also handled there its likely that J519 need a repair/exchange.

Thanx in anvance

J519 is just an example of a possible issue, that's internal to car.

But in engine bay the lambda sensors should send values to the engine ECU.

Is it safe to just remove the voltage control unit, checking the solderings and put it back? I mean does it loos the coding or such things just because its disconnected?

Codings are stored in permanent memory in each module (though not sure if that one has coding) so you can remove and test.
