Oil Leak on a 2018 1.4 TSI

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone, Got some sad news on the car.

I suddenly got a low oil warning on my Superb 2018, and the dipping stick was not reaching oil.
It was leaking alot of oil suddenly.
Turns out 2 of the screws on the cam cover had loosened by themselves, causing this big oil leak.

Timing Belt has never been changed on the car, as it's only gone 90k km

Fortunately the screws did not get in-between the cogs of the belt.

Of-course warranty ran out approx 3 weeks ago when this happened.

So i had a mechanic change Timing Belt, Tightener and Seals + 5 new screws

Has anyone else experienced this, and do you think Skoda should do something about it?

Hello Gratax, welcome to the forum. That looks as if you had a very lucky escape!

Looking at the images you posted, that timing belt was due for replacement anyway.

I assume that your original belt was also soaked with engine oil?
