Quietest Tyre for 17" Alloys? - Any Thoughts?

Featured Replies

Hi all,:D

Can you let me know what is judged the best brand of 215/45 zr17s to go on the 17"alloys/sport suspension please? I have Bridgestone re050's, what a racket ,especially on M-ways. :(

Im sure there must be a quieter alternative?

Thanks

Try the New Goodyear Execellence http://ssl.delti.com/mytires/start.html I have just fitted them to my car, an Octavia 2.0 tdi with 205/55/ 16"w and it has made my car so quiet now I love it, before the change i was very disappointed with it and wanted to sell it.

My original tyre was the Bridgestone Turanza ER30, so much road noise that when i drove an Octavia Sport for a day with 17"wheels i have to say it was quieter than my 16" wheels, that car was running on Dunlops.

I have spent many hours researching my new tyre choice as i have always been very sad when it comes to tyre choice and noise is my pet hate. I came to the Goodyears after having to translate German and many other foreign forums on tyres to see what was rated best for handing and noise. Very SAD i know.

Haha! Some may think that's sad but I certainly appreciate your recommendation... Tyre noise was the one big disappointment of my Fab vRS, the Michelin Primacy's make a right din! I'll be trying the Goodyears out when I finally wear them out.

I'd suggest Michelin Pilot Exalto 2s (I have them fitted in 225/40 18 to my vRS) if you want a reasonably quiet tyre with top performance for grip (wet or dry) etc, but they are a top price tyre.

For a mid price tyre try Toyo T1-R or Falken 452; recommended by quite a few other Briskodians.

Steer clear of Bridgestone, Dunlop and Continental - all are niosy.

as above from bahnstormer plus Goodyear eagle F1 GSD3's which ive just fitted all round. very quiet when you dont have a broken wheel bearing

I've always found P Zero Rossos a quiet yet grippy and communicative tyre, as long as you keep the pressures on the low side.

I've used SO2's, SO3's, and F1's on the same or similar cars and the P Zeros have the edge on refinement and life, and are my overall favourite...
