OTA update OAA2

Featured Replies

I've just had an ota update which was called OAA2 and looks to have been an update to the emergency SOS and a couple of other related issues. After the update it said OCU had been updated.

I've had the SOS issue since the update to 1896, so hopefully this has fixed it. I drive around 150 miles today and didn't get the issue so looks good.

Anyone else had this update?

I had the update a couple of days ago however not noticed any differences yet. I've had no issues with 1896 so hoping it stays that way.

The SOS pop issue happens in the same locations, so I will check that in the next few days, fingers crossed it's fixed.

Yep it said something about an infotainment update. Not noticed anything different.

Was naively hoping it would fix the 'travel assist not available' constant pinging even tho it's nothing to do with infotainment. It did not 😄

How do you guys get updates? My 2020 Ambition (Bolero) is almost 3 years old and I have never ever got an yodate for it.

Guys at the dealership also keep telling me that there is no uodate for it in the system.

No OTA updates either. Version has been 0892 since June 2020. It's driving me crazy.

Hold down your Menu/Setup button for about 10 seconds to enter the engineering menu, take pictures in there and report back.  I can see if the dealer's are being truthful.

There are some newer updates and they contain a list of "Blocked" software trains, of which yours is not on the list... which means in theory it will load.

I would not be comfortable sending unless you looked online with erWin Skoda in the TPI documents to check if the newer firmwares can load, otherwise it could break the unit.

It's not worth the risk, but 0892 is the last version I have before they jump into the 1xxx version numbers.

And if I check the documents if it can load, and it can, could you send me the update and I would be able to do it myself at hone via an USB stick?

In theory you can, but there will be a part where it will want to talk to the "mothership" and download maybe new FEC codes/coding and you won't be able to do that at home.  It was more to see if update is there, and you can visit dealer/independant workshop quoting the TPI document number.

VAG main dealers always seem reluctant to update, but they maybe correct that you have already current version.

You youself would need to weigh up the risk vs. reward, if this will benefit you to check/load update.

@varooom stupid question maybe, but is Swing using same versions as Bolero and Columbus?

If so, easiest (and safest) way would be to report some issue, that is included in TPI requiring upgrade to 1896. For me it was not saving favorites in sat-nav, which of course is not possible here. But i'm sure some issue to report can be found, after which they should upgrade according to TPI.

AFAIK they don't share the same base software, where this is MEN3.... They software for the others use MOI3... string and are way bigger.

MEN3 are several hundred megabytes in size compared to MOI3 that are 10x bigger.

Don't have a lot of time to reply in more depth, or maybe a PM if you require more thoughts on this.

Well, it's not really for me, was just thinking how we could help @PrimeTime

I'm pretty sure there are some TPI's, that would include some hints on how to force them to upgrade Swing, but i don't have access to any.

SW Train: MEN3_EU_SK38X_P1245L

MUVersion: 1765

This one does exist, and if you get desperate you are welcome to try this release.  Just so you know your Software Train version posted is in theory not blocked for the above update.

Just the jump in versions is great and makes me suspect, anyhow the risk is yours if you want to attempt it.

Don't know how reliable this info is, but I read on skodacommunity.de forum is related to an update for Android Auto

I read that too, although I don't think that is the case.  I think they've taken the 'OAA2' and derived Android Auto from that.  Mine said it was updating the Emergency SOS and that the OCU had been updated, I assume OAA refers to 'Over the Air'?

IIRC this update should fix sound issues coming from speakers, like some pop and crackling noise.
