Does all skoda dealers use erwin for service history?

Featured Replies

I'm in the process of buying a used skoda from Garland Skoda Aldershot, but when asking them if the service they're doing will be added to erwin they said they've never heard of this? I've asked the name of the online system for future reference.

Funny enough I've been able to get access to erwin and checked the VIN of the new car I'm buying and it does show an input from Garland Motors of delivery of the vehicle when new.

So I would assume the service they do on it before I get it would be put on there? He did mention customers don't have access and get print outs which is understandable.

Cheers

Welcome,

You didn't provide any car details of what you're buying, but their statement is bonkers, as they or an independent garage would be able to input, and for warranty they must input these when they do a service.

Maybe you spoke to the service desk, and they're not always the sharpest of tools.

Sorry I'm buying a 67 Plate Skoda Octavia Vrs Estate! First skoda, coming from a 2008 audi a3 I've had since 2014.

Yeah it is strange when on erwin it says this exact place took delivery of the car when it was new haha!

I'm speaking with sales so probably the same situation, as in they wouldn't use such website or input anything.

I'll see what they come back with as asked what online system they use

Cheers

Speaking with sales or service desk staff is the issue.   Ask to talk to the master tech, a technician, a fitter or even the cleaner..

Maybe even the Workshop Manger. But that is hit or miss.

Haha sounds about right! I'll wait and see if something gets updated on erwin as it has previous services and that.

? So what is it, TDI or TSI, manual or DSG, FWD or AWD?

It's a 2.0 TSI Manual. I'd assume FWD. definitely more poke than my audi. Only got it cause we have a baby so need a bigger car so thought some fun too as vrs

@Caj109

Is it a Skoda Approved used car then?

Advertised with a FSH or FMDSH,  just maybe a history of not serviced exactly to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendation or even Schedule.

Not that the Manufacturers tell owners much of what actually they recommend or are actual schedules.

I do not know anything about the 2017 manual and if it has a VAQ Diff.   Front.

If it has then the Servicing is @ 3 years / 30,000 miles, so was due in 2020 and now in 2023.       Others can maybe tell you, or erWin.

PS

The thing with that Chart and other.   That is fixed service regime.

So if on Variable / Flexible it is not working out.  Maybe first service a 24 months / 18,000 -20.000miles.

Then MOT at 3 years, maybe a service, maybe not.

So see what the FSH shows.  Then ask more about stuff. The Service Folder of loose leaf info often gets binned.

2021, sort of helped.

then 2022 is in the website.

Think the 245 version has ediff not 100% on the 230hp version.

Thanks for all the info, I think the car was on a flexible plan to begin with but I've always serviced every year so probably go to fixed plan.

The extended scopes worth it? Or best to just do it as per the pictures above

The Extended Scope is repeating what shows with Inspection Oil Changes.

Get an Independent to service it with stuff needing done when it needs doing.   After this lot have it service up to date before hand over.

Others might help.  I know nothing about these.

Moved the thread to the Octavia section of the forum 👍

Firstly putting babies in Vrs Octavia's turns them into petrol heads, when they are big enough to drive you'll need deep pockets for their first cars insurance😀

You can register for Erwin for free and see the "history" from the vin number.

As mentioned the sales desk won't have a clue.

When I bought my car used I phoned up another main dealer and said I've bought a used Octavia and wish to find out the service history before I bring it into your dealer for its first service (lying through my teeth) and they obliged me all the details over the phone with just the reg. 👍

Haha hopefully not that deep!

Yeah I have access to it as can say you're a company, I've picked it up but it doesn't seem to have been updated.

But speaking to the sales guy today he showed me some internal system VW and them use apparently. Wasn't erwin but he said other skoda dealers should be able to use it.

Shame erwin not updated as that shows more services than what the guy could show me as it even shows me the delivery inspection when the car was brand new. And including services it had when it was in Germany.

@Caj109

Just like this.

OK as long as the stuff has been put on the system.

Sorry to Hijack this thread, but it interests me greatly as I'm looking to buy my next car real soon.

@toot : I have a question for you please. I know you can't disclose the details at the top of the pics which you've attached, but what is the title of those reports please?

Reason being, I've been able to get hold of the 'Service History Certificate' for my future car, but not a breakdown of the parts used etc?

Thanks in advance.

It is just access into the VW Group Servicing, or other manufacturers that Car Supermarkets and the trade have.

*Those pages were 'Not for customers eyes' as the cost of actual parts / work shows that they are using for HMRC when paying tax on profits.*

Many things actually cost very little to do before a used car sale'.

I told the person i was dealing with to stop ar5ing about an pull it up.

This was at a  MotorChoice place that were saying a Full Service History with this car but the car traded in did not have a History even though it was them that had sold it.

This Audi A1 history was there when they were pushed, history from an Audi dealership which actually is owned by the same people that own MotorChoice.

John Clark Motor Group.     An Audi they did not want to sell through the Audi Dealership right next door....

Official main dealers have no need to access erWin.  They have access directly to the Volkswagen AG secure portal.

erWin is basically just a mirror of the official VW portal, but for use by the independent motor trade
