Skoda Octavia 2019

Featured Replies

Hi, I've bought a used Skoda Octavia 2019 with 50k mileage from a Nationwide independent dealer 2 days ago. It has had 2 previous owners and the latest is from Enterprise but it wasn't a multi-use vehicle (I think they described as ex-management).

The dealership say all Skoda service history is online and said they will provide this history but so far I have received nothing. When I rang my local Skoda garage they said there is no history at all of the car being serviced with Skoda.

Is there some way of checking the service history on the app to confirm? Do Enterprise have their own in house service arrangements?

I have contacted the independent dealer to find out what the situation is but it doesn't look good.

I know I should have confirmed the service history was available online beforehand so I don't need to be reminded of that.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hello!

Give your local Trading Standards office a call and see where you stand if you bought the car on the basis it had a full service history and it turns out there is no evidence of the car being serviced.

After that, it might be worth phoning up Enterprise saying you're looking at buying one of their cars but are concerned about whether the cars are serviced correctly.

If Enterprise say "We have our cars serviced by the appropriate local dealer", then you at least know what should have happened, and if what Skoda told you is correct, it hasn't.

If Enterprise tells you have their own garages who do their servicing and repairs, then ask how you as a potential customer can see the service history. Tell them you'll need evidence of the service history when you come to sell the car. See what they say.

Basically, you're looking to arm yourself with evidence that the car hasn't been serviced and you've been lied to, in which the conversation with Trading Standards will have primed you for the next step, or evidence that the car HAS been serviced and Enterprise can provide you with a service history.

At the moment, because you're not sure how Enterprise operate, you don't know exactly who should have serviced the car, so it's hard to pinpoint who to chase up about whether it has or not.

Good luck!

@RQ92Welcome.  Have you spoken to the Manager or Dealer Principal where you bought the car or just Sales Staff?

Can you name who it was bought from.

Mis-selling / advertising is a serious matter, for them.

Did they sell it as having full service history or did they just say the service history can be found online as the both would have different meanings.

Has it had an MOT done yet but the way as that can sometimes show some history with recommendations etc.

Did the dealer state that your car had a fsh at the point of purchase? If so & it's been less than a month since you've purchased it. You could move towards rejecting the car, as it wasn't sold as advertised (no service history). You'd need to put this into writing to your dealership within a month after purchase, then see what they come back with. It also depends how important the previous service history is to you, if they can't provide it & you still want to keep it, maybe negotiate some free future services from them (have them put it in writing). If it's ex rental, then it'll have some form of service history, just a case of tracking it down or living with it.

I bought my 19 plate Octavia just over 6 months ago from a none Skoda main dealer, they printed off it's previous service history for me. I also con firmed it's history from a Skoda dealer.
