Replacing a driver's door (right hand) sensor

Featured Replies

Hi. Has anyone replaced a sensor in the door handle ? The locked  door on my 2016 Superb will open when you use the handle, but will not lock when you hold your hand against the sensor. It will unlock and open on the passenger door , so it must be the sensor on that driver's door? Thanks

You have said that the drivers door will unlock but not lock? (Are you just touching the outside dimple of the handle, not grabbing the inside of the handle too)

and you state that the passenger door also unlocks the car but you haven’t stated if it locks the car?

first I would be checking fault codes and live data.

if you find it is faulty then you can’t replace the sensor and instead it’s all built into the complete handle.

Hi. Sorry for delayed reply.  Shocking cold has lost me a day or so, and it probably explains the befuddled way I described the problem.

Everything works on the passenger door fine. I sometimes have to use the key fob to unlock the driver's door, as gripping the door handle doesn't unlock it. Locking it , by holding your hand against the "dimple" very rarely works. Hope that's a better explanation. Based on that, are you saying the door handle itself and sensor will need to be replaced,  not just a sensor inside it?

Thanks.

Correct it is a complete door handle. *if* that is the problem.

if it’s the osf kessy handle that is faulty then I do have a spare one for sale if you’re interested.

I've always been able to lock or unlock the door by tapping it with the back of my hand and I've never needed to grip the handle.  Even when I'm wearing gloves, it usually works using this method.

Thanks for that, but unfortunately I think the sensor's gone, or going,  as it won't lock the door, and only sometimes opens when I grip the handle.  Key still works though!
