Help please!

 

I have a 2018 Kodiaq. I have an orange warning light on dash / audible warning that the factory fitted retractable tow bar is not locked. 

 

The tow bar operates and locks perfectly well, there are no functional problems other than the warning itself. I have checked the fuses and electrical connections, all seem OK. I suspect a sensor failure or an electrical gremlin.

 

Main dealer advises to change the whole system for the princely sum of 2.5k!

 

Surely this must be something simple? Ideas welcome!

Have you tried cleaning the magnetic catch? They are susceptible to getting covered in dirt, a good hot soapy water wash might just do the trick…
