Freesat 4k recorder and Hybrid Lnb?

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone does satellite TV installs and has seen this before.

We have just replaced our old Freesat Humax box with a new Freesat 4k Recorder (ARRIS), we already have a Labgear hybrid lnb. Initially I connected up with the already known working two std ports on the Lnb and it detected the signal fine. I switched over to the wideband connections and I get nothing no signal. I assumed it might be alignment of some sort but it was getting dark so I left the box connected to the original ports on the Lnb.
We went through settings up our recordings and without realising we set up three programs to record at the same time. This morning everything recorded perfectly so I setup multiple recordings for 9am and it definitely let's us record three programs and watch a fourth. No idea what is going on but going to leave it alone.

If at least 2 of the programs are on the same transponder (same frequency and polarisation) then there's no hardware reason why they can't be recorded together.

When I was working on the system software for the Sky+ box we had long discussions with Sky about the unnecessary restrictions in the EPG software (which they wrote) on recording more than 2 programs simultaneously.
